Well, we had our first trip to the ER on Monday night. Surprisingly, it wasn't Jacob that needed the care. Ella was playing and bumped her forehead on the corner of the brick fireplace (well the hearth I guess), causing a pretty deep gash. This was all while I was cooking, so dinner was put on hold as we packed up the kids in the car and headed to the nearest hospital. Overall, Ella was a pretty good patient. She only got upset when we had to hold her still to tape on the cotton ball with the numbing gel to her forehead. Then of course she was even more upset with us when they were wrapping her up like a burrito so they could stitch her up (which this process included a numbing shot right in the gash so she wouldn't feel anything. Poor baby!).
So some orange Sunkist, a 7up, and five stitches later we were on our way home. We only spent a total of 2 hours away from home, which I must say is pretty impressive for an ER. We were home by 8pm and fed the kids popsicles once we were back.
Stitches come out tomorrow, but that shouldn't be too dramatic...hopefully.
