Stitches

Well, we had our first trip to the ER on Monday night. Surprisingly, it wasn't Jacob that needed the care. Ella was playing and bumped her forehead on the corner of the brick fireplace (well the hearth I guess), causing a pretty deep gash. This was all while I was cooking, so dinner was put on hold as we packed up the kids in the car and headed to the nearest hospital. Overall, Ella was a pretty good patient. She only got upset when we had to hold her still to tape on the cotton ball with the numbing gel to her forehead. Then of course she was even more upset with us when they were wrapping her up like a burrito so they could stitch her up (which this process included a numbing shot right in the gash so she wouldn't feel anything. Poor baby!).

So some orange Sunkist, a 7up, and five stitches later we were on our way home. We only spent a total of 2 hours away from home, which I must say is pretty impressive for an ER. We were home by 8pm and fed the kids popsicles once we were back. Stitches come out tomorrow, but that shouldn't be too dramatic...hopefully.

Dentist

Our second trip to the dentist was pretty successful. Well for Jacob anyway. Jacob had his teeth cleaned and did surprisingly well! I was really shocked that he actually let the hygienist and Dr. Jack polish and scope out his pearly whites.
Ella on the other hand threw a little bit of a fit when Dr. Jack took out her pacifier and tried to just brush her teeth. This was her second visit as well, so maybe next time will be better. I'm hopeful. :o)

Drawing master

Jacob is learning and growing so much lately. Especially now that he is in school. Last night Daniel and I were treated to a surprise. Jacob hasn't really been much into drawing/coloring, except of course when it comes to markers. Markers = big mess = mommy gets really angry. Anyway, Daniel and I usually draw on the doodle pad (Daniel being the expert sketch artist of course) for the kids to practice their shapes, numbers, letters, etc. Well, last night Jacob took over and drew his classmate/friend, Logan. What?!?! I wish I would have taken a picture, because he very distinctly (for a kids drawing anyway) drew a face (with cheeks!) and arms and legs! We were so excited! Then he said he wanted to draw Daddy. Then Momma. Then Ella. This was all during Blues Clues, which is part of our nightly routine. So after the show, it's off to bedtime, with the doodle pad in hand. His book of choice as of now is The Cat in the Hat.

So his next drawing of course was the Cat! Can you see the resemblance?!

Great job buddy!!!
