Yesterday morning seemed to go pretty smoothly. We started about our routine as normal. The kids eating breakfast, me making their lunches for school (well, Ella's lunch. Jacob was still sick so he was going to miss). Everything was all fine and dandy until Ella slipped and fell. She was standing on the chair at the table and busted her lip (which we've told her a bagillion times not to stand in the chairs). I mean, her tooth actually went THROUGH her lip. So yes, she had a hole, and lots of blood of course. Cue my slight panic attack. I yell at Daniel to come back, who was literally getting in his car to leave for work. Ella and I then head to the ER to take care of her wound. While sitting in the waiting area, I take a look at her lip again, and the small hole that was there had already closed up. I was debating whether or not to leave, because I knew they wouldn't be able to do anything about it. And sure enough, the doc said she could try to stitch it up, but that it would probably be best and less traumatic to just leave it alone and let it heal on it's own. Plus it would probably scar more WITH the stitches. Next time I'll listen to my instincts better. Better to be safe than sorry I guess.
My prediction for ER visits was completely off. I was certain that Jacob would be my accident prone child. I think I need to reevaluate...
Not the greatest picture, but you can kind of see it...
I must say, after two visits to this particular ER (Baylor), I'm pretty impressed. We were in and out in under an hour, just like our
first visit. However, I'm definitely not looking forward to the bill that awaits us...
